There Is Nothing Left Here II

Tiles, potting soil, grass
1 m²
I reclaim discarded, weathered tiles from buildings and rearrange them into a geometric square ground surface, scattering seeds into the gaps between the tiles so that plants can emerge through the structure originally designed to connect and stabilize the architectural surface. As part of the architectural envelope, the tiles once served to cover, divide, and structure space. Removed from their original architectural context, they are reconfigured as a residual structure whose original function has been suspended. The emergence of vegetation introduces a continuous temporal process into an otherwise enclosed and stable artificial surface. By juxtaposing the failure of architectural material with the growth of living matter, the work makes time visible through cracks, coverage, and growth. It explores how a functional space, once detached from its original purpose, can gradually transform into a new landscape.
